“Disney Planes” Video Game Release Information

Disney Interactive has announced details about “Disney’s Planes”  Video Game. It will be released a few days before the movie, with the game scheduled for an August 6 release while the film will land in theaters on Aug. 9. Nintendo is the exclusive gaming console for “Planes” which offers players the ability to play as one of 10 characters on the Wii or Wii U console, and one of 6 characters on the 3DS or DS handheld devices.

The game offers several modes of play including a story mode and skill-based scoring mini-game mode, which will add to the variety of play features. Depending on if you are playing the console or handheld version of the game, you will have access to exclusive gameplay options. Single-player is an option on both the handheld and console versions, but the console version also allows two-player drop-in, drop-out game play so that users can race against one another. The exploratory Free Flight mode and racing based Air Rallies mode are exclusive to the consoles and the objective achieving Challenge mode is only offered via the handheld platforms. The game is rated “E” for Everyone by the ESRB.

If you are unfamiliar with the film “Planes”, it is one that inhabits a world much like Disney’s “Cars” and features the voice of Dane Cook in the main-character role of “Dusty Crophopper”. Dusty is a crop-dusting plane with dreams of being a high-flying air racer, but unfortunately, he has a fear of heights.
