In an interview with IGN, Joss Whedon confirmed the rumor that Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch will be appearing in the “Avengers 2.” They are undoubtedly the most famous brother – sister act in the Marvel Universe, and have both appeared numerous times in the “Avengers” story line. What’s particularly interesting is that the characters are both mutants having appeared first in the “X-Men” comics in 1964 and are children of Magneto. They were originally part of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. They switched sides and joined the Avengers in 1965 along with fellow new recruit Hawkeye. As they were involved in the “X-Men” series, many had speculated that Fox owned their movie rights as well. However, it appears that whichever studio was to get to the characters first, would get their rights. Not sure I have ever heard of such a high-profile case of getting “dibs” on something.
