Performers & Presenters Announced For 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards

Radio Disney chart toppers Ariana Grande and DNCE are scheduled to perform at the 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards (RDMA), music’s biggest event for families, taking place SATURDAY, APRIL 30 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Additionally, Katherine McNamara and Emeraude Toubia of Freeform’s “Shadowhunters” have been named presenters.

“Radio Disney has long supported Ariana Grande and is delighted to showcase her talent again at the Radio Disney Music Awards. Similarly, we can’t wait for DNCE to take the stage – they have quickly become Radio Disney fan favorites,” said Phil Guerini, vice president, Music Strategy, Disney Channels Worldwide and general manager, Radio Disney Networks.

Republic Records artist Ariana Grande, already a four-time ARDY recipient, is nominated this year for “Move! – Best Song To Dance To” for her single “Focus” and will return to the stage where she made her debut performance of her hit single, “Problem” at the 2014 RDMA. Republic Records band DNCE, comprised of band members Joe Jonas, Jack Lawless, Cole Whittle and JinJoo are first-time RDMA nominees in three categories including “The Freshest – Best New Artist” and “That’s My Jam – Best Anthem” for their platinum selling debut single “Cake By The Ocean.”

Stars of Freeform’s “Shadowhunters” Katherine McNamara (Clary Fray) and Emeraude Toubia (Isabelle Lightwood) will present at the 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards. The hit saga series based on the beloved New York Times bestselling book series, “The Mortal Instruments” follows teen Clary Fray a human-angel hybrid who hunts demons. New episodes air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on Freeform.

Voting is open now through Sunday, April 10 at Disney.com/RDMA, the Radio Disney app, Google OneBox and via Radio Disney’s Facebook and Twitter profiles.

Winners will be announced at the 2016 RDMA on SATURDAY, APRIL 30 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, with a two-hour television special “Disney Channel Presents the 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards” originating from the event to be presented SUNDAY, MAY 1 (7:00-9:00 p.m. EDT) on Disney Channel.

Tickets for the RDMA will be on sale Friday, March 11 at AXS.com/RDMA.

FLO RIDA AND LAURA MARANO SET TO PERFORM AT THE

Flo Rida is nominated for “So Happy – Best Song That Makes You Smile (presented by Cheddar Goldfish® crackers)” for “I Don’t Like It, I Love It,” which had a 15-week run on Radio Disney’s “Top 30.” His latest single, “My House” has spent 17 weeks on the Radio Disney charts, including a week at number one.

Marano, best known for starring as singer and songwriter Ally Dawson in the hit Disney Channel comedy series “Austin & Ally,” also hosts “For The Record With Laura Marano,” a weekly show on Radio Disney that takes listeners through her experience recording her first solo pop album with Big Machine Records. The 2016 RDMA will mark the first broadcast performance of her debut single “Boombox.”

Fans can continue to cast their votes for their favorite songs and artists until Sunday, April 10 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Voter momentum continues to rapidly build across the five polling platforms, including Disney.com/RDMA, the Radio Disney app, Google One Box, and Radio Disney’s Facebook and Twitter profiles.

Sofia Carson, who is best known for her role as Evie, the daughter of the Evil Queen in the hit Disney Channel Original Movie “Descendants,” recently signed as a recording artist with Hollywood Records and Republic Records. The 2016 RDMA marks the first televised performance of her debut single, “Love Is The Name.” Carson also stars in the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie “Adventures In Babysitting,” a contemporary re-imagined tale of the hugely popular 1980s blockbuster of the same name.

Rising star Daya, who is nominated for “The Freshest – Best New Artist” at the 2016 RDMA, has already reached platinum with her debut single “Hide Away.” In 2015, at only 17-years-old, Daya released her self-titled EP under budding music label Artbeatz. Her second single, “Sit Still, Look Pretty,” has been streamed almost 10 million times on Spotify.

SABRINA CARPENTER TO PERFORM AT 2016 RADIO DISNEY MUSIC AWARDS

Hollywood Records recording artist Sabrina Carpenter is scheduled to perform at the 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards (RDMA), music’s biggest event for families. Carpenter joins previously announced artists including Ariana Grande, DNCE, Flo Rida, Hailee Steinfeld, Zara Larsson, Daya, Laura Marano, Sofia Carson, Kelsea Ballerini and Jordan Smith on SATURDAY, APRIL 30 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The two-hour television special “Disney Channel Presents the 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards” originating from the event to be presented SUNDAY, MAY 1 (7:00-9:00 p.m. EDT) on Disney Channel.

The singer and actress is already working on her second album and will take the RDMA stage with her latest single, “Smoke and Fire,” which continues to rise on the Radio Disney “Top 30.” Carpenter is nominated in the category “That’s My Jam – Best Anthem” for “Eyes Wide Open,” her hit single that she performed at the 2015 RDMA, where she also won an ARDY statuette for “XOXO – Best Crush Song” for her single “Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying.”

Best known for her role as Maya in Disney Channel’s comedy series “Girl Meets World,” Carpenter will star in the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie “Adventures in Babysitting,” inspired by the hugely popular 1980s blockbuster of the same name.
