Another day, another Star Wars rumor. This newest rumor suggests that Harrison Ford is on-board to portray Han Solo in director J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Star Wars sequel. This isn’t exactly a new thought, and according to Cinema Blend, Ford is said to be ready and able to step back into his iconic role once again.
There are numerous outlets reporting the same basic information, but nothing has been confirmed at this time. Harrison Ford previously told Entertainment Weekly that he would be interested in returning to the Star Wars universe, but he also suggested his character should be killed off and had previously voiced his displeasure that his character had not died in Return of the Jedi.
Disney has confirmed that the studio intends to release several standalone Star Wars movies, and some of the popular rumors right now include Han Solo as the centerpiece of his own film. The Harrison Ford rumor making the rounds today suggests he would be returning for Episode VII, but perhaps he might be willing to do a Han Solo standalone film. At this time, I think it would be wise for fans to wait to schedule their Han Solo / Star Wars party until we see something concrete from Disney/Lucasfilm, Abrams, or Ford himself.
Let us know what you think about Harrison Ford’s possible involvement with Star Wars for Episode VII or standalone films.
