In a special one hour event episode that will be presented in 2014 on Disney Channel and Disney XD, Phineas and Ferb will be transported to the Star Wars Universe. The announcement of the mashup was made today at Comic-Con International in San Diego by Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh who are the creators and executive producers of “Phineas and Ferb.” I should also mention that they are both huge “Star Wars” fans so we’re extremely excited to see what they come up with.
Warning: *Spoiler*. Please don’t read the rest of this article if you want to be surprised about the plot. For those of you that decided to read on, you might have guessed, the story begins a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away – and in summer. Phineas and Ferb live very happily on Tatooine, in an adjacent moisture farm to that of Luke Skywalker. Like the Earth version of their characters, they love simply hanging out and creating new adventures but find themselves thrust into a global rebellion when the plans for blowing up the Death Star accidentally fall into their hands. They go on a quest to find a pilot who can take them to the rebels so they can hand over the plans, but complicating matters, Candace makes an appearance, and as always, is intent on “busting” her brothers. You might even say she has some Stormtrooper-like qualities as she pursues Phineas and Ferb across the galaxy in hopes of retrieving the Death Star plans.
On the Death Star, there is a low level version of Darth Vader, known as Darth Enshmirtz who has created a new “inator”, this time a “Sith-inator.” He plans to use it against the Rebel Alliance and Agent P, who is working undercover for the Rebels, makes an attempt to stop him. Unfortunately, he gets trapped in carbonite and then, the story takes a huge turn as Ferb is accidentally hit by the “Sith-inator” and he becomes an evil Sith.
The voice cast includes: Vincent Martella as Phineas Flynn, Ashley Tisdale as Candace Flynn, Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Ferb Fletcher, Caroline Rhea as mom Linda Flynn-Fletcher, Richard O’Brien as dad Lawrence Fletcher, Dee Bradley Baker as Perry the Platypus, Alyson Stoner as Isabella, Maulik Pancholy as Baljeet, Bobby Gaylor as Buford, Jeff “Swampy” Marsh as Major Monogram and Emmy Award-winning Dan Povenmire as Darth Enshmirtz.
“Phineas and Ferb” is an incredibly popular show having been the #1 animated TV series for children ages 6 to 11 in primetime, and for Tweens across total day, for the past five years. Mixing in “Star Wars” should be nothing short of a huge episode and one we are looking forward to.
