Disney Working On Live-Action Cruella de Vil Film

Disney seems to be bringing many of their animated features to life, and the trend doesn’t appear to be stopping anytime soon. We mentioned the first look images from “Cinderella” a few days ago, the relatively recent release of “Alice in Wonderland ” (2010), and of course the “Sleeping Beauty” movie centered around the baddie “Maleficent” is scheduled for release in May 2014. It now appears they’ll do another movie that revolves around a villainess, this time Cruella De Vil, according to THR. Glenn Close played the fur-loving character in 1996’s live action “101 Dalmatians” and the 2000 sequel, “102 Dalmatians,” but no word yet on who might play the character this time.

After the success of Universal’s “Snow White and the Huntsman,” and the huge amount of support at the D23 Expo for Angelina Jolie’s “Maleficent” character, it’s not a big surprise to see them taking on these types of projects. The screenwriter Disney has chosen for the project is Aline Brosh McKenna, a name very familiar to them as she penned the “Cinderella” script and previously adapted “The Devil Wears Prada.”
