It’s that time of year again with Christmas and New Years just around the corner. Like many families, one of our annual holiday traditions has been to make a list of movies to watch together. We’ve found that there are several movies that make the list every year, there are some that have been added as our son has gotten older, and with his age some have landed off the list as well. One of the holiday movies we watched regularly when our son was younger was “Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year.”  It’s a great movie for all of the younger family members and for parents that grew up watching Winnie the Pooh. For the first time, the movie is now available on Blu-ray and Digital Copy, so it was a movie we definitely wanted to review.

The title of this movie might have been better written as “Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Christmas and New Years.”  As you can probably guess by our proposed title, the movie features both Christmas and New Years. The movie is basically a combination of the special “Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too” along with “Happy Pooh Year,” and if you have ever seen these specials, you have seen the movie. Along with his friends, Pooh is getting ready for Christmas and they all decide to make a Christmas list. The list includes gifts that they want to give one another, but when the list is lost, Pooh and Piglet dress up as Santa, and one of his reindeer. The remaining portion of the movie is a flashback to Rabbit’s recollection of a New Year when he was frustrated with other characters personalities and they all swapped personalities because of a resolution.

I previously mentioned that this movie is basically the combination of two other movies. However, it’s worth noting that even if you have seen these individual specials, the movie is still worth the time and money. The Blu-ray version of the film is just as charming as the originals. There are a few games and activities for the younger members of your family, but nothing really special to set them apart. Out of the additions, our favorite was the Letters to Santa Kit that is enclosed in the set. Fans of Winnie the Pooh will definitely want to add this Blu-ray release to their collection.
