Today, Disney Interactive has revealed a new Star Wars game, “Star Wars: Attack Squadrons,” a free to play online title that will feature some of the famous ships in multiplayer space combat. Using some of the famous “Star Wars” ships such as the Rebel Alliance’s X-Wing fighter and the Empire’s TIE Intercepter, players can engage in dogfights with up to 16 players as they make their way around some of the most famous locations in the Star Wars Universe, although at this time, we can only guess at what they might be.

The game is being developed by studio Area 52 with Disney set to launch a closed beta of the game early next year. If you are interested, you can sign up to participate in the beta here: www.starwars.com/attacksquadrons. Along with this new “Star Wars” game, fans can look forward to “Star Wars: Battlefront” that should land in 2015.
