“Need For Speed” brings the excitement of EA Entertainment’s best-selling racing video game franchise of the same name to the big screen. Screenwriter John Gatins and his brother and co-writer George have passion for the genre and it shows. They own an auto shop in Van Nuys, California, and restore classics. They immerse themselves in the culture of cars, and when EA visited their garage to discuss a possible screenplay, they jumped at the opportunity.
In “Need for Speed” the stars of the movie are the cars themselves, so picking the cars was a big challenge. In the final cut there are a variety of classic ‘70s muscle cars and even European super cars many of which have been seen in the video game series.
