In information from Disney Channel in June 2012, they talked about working on a new animated series called “The 7D.”
Disney Television Animation was in production on this new animated series that is taking a comedic take on the world of Seven Dwarfs, this time in a contemporary storybook world designed for viewers age 2-7 and their families. They set the series debut for sometime in 2014 and planned on broadcasting it on Disney Junior channels and programming blocks around the world. The announcement was made on June 19, 2012, by Nancy Kanter, Senior Vice President, Original Programming and General Manager, Disney Junior Worldwide.
The executive producer is Emmy Award-winning Tom Ruegger (“Animaniacs”). Alfred Gimeno (“Tiny Toon Adventures”) is the director and Sherri Stoner (“Pinky and the Brain”) is the story editor. The characters are designed by Noah Z. Jones (“Fish Hooks”).
Kanter said, “Our goal for Disney Junior is to engage kids with stories and characters that represent the very best of Disney storytelling. With ‘The 7D,’ we look to continue Walt Disney’s legacy of reinterpreting classic folk and fairy tales in ways that delight new audiences. We’re excited to re-imagine these familiar characters and put them in a new humorous setting that we think will entertain kids and parents alike.”
The series takes place in the whimsical world of Jollywood, where Queen Delightful relies on the 7D – Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Dopey, Grumpy and Doc – to keep the kingdom in order. Standing in their way are two laughably evil villains, Grim and Hildy Gloom, who plot to take over the kingdom by stealing the magical jewels in the 7D’s mine. With seven very distinct personalities, the 7D always manage to save the day and send Grim and Hildy running back to their evil lair to try another day.
I noticed today (April 3, 2014) that the stars of the cartoon are posting pictures and are mentioning that the show is coming to Disney XD this summer!

KELLY OSBOURNE JOINS THE CAST OF DISNEY’S “THE 7D,” A CONTEMPORARY, COMEDIC TAKE ON THE SEVEN DWARFS, PREMIERING THIS SUMMER
Stellar Voice Cast includes Jess Harnell, Leigh-Allyn Baker, Bill Farmer, Maurice LaMarche, Kevin Michael Richardson, Dee Bradley Baker, Scott Menville, Stephen Stanton, Billy West and Paul Rugg

Kelly Osbourne has joined the cast of Disney’s “The 7D,” an animated series that delivers a comedic new take on the Seven Dwarfs. Produced by Disney Television Animation, the zany and broadly appealing series will be presented on three Disney TV platforms: Disney XD, Disney Channel and Disney Junior, beginning this summer.
Ms. Osbourne, who shared the news with fans via her Twitter account today, said, “It may surprise some to learn that I grew up watching Disney Channel, so playing a character in a Disney cartoon is beyond exciting for me.” She continued, “I’m having a blast voicing Hildy, who I’ve now come to think of as my alter ego – she is my Sasha Fierce. The role has taught me so much about acting – and Hildy’s a tough one to keep up with, so I wear workout clothes to recording sessions because I jump and move around to really bring her to life.”
Set in the contemporary and whimsical world of Jollywood, “The 7D” story finds the 7D – Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Dopey, Grumpy and Doc – hard at work helping the quirky Queen Delightful (voiced by Leigh-Allyn Baker of Disney Channel’s “Good Luck Charlie”) keep her kingdom in order. Osbourne will voice the role of Hildy Gloom, a novice witch who, together with her warlock husband Grim (voiced by Emmy-nominated Jess Harnell of Disney Junior’s “Sofia the First” and “Doc McStuffins”), haplessly plot to overthrow the kingdom.
The stellar voice cast includes Disney Legend Bill Farmer (the voice of Goofy) as Doc, Maurice LaMarche (“Pinky and the Brain”) as Grumpy, Kevin Michael Richardson (“Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja”) as Happy, Dee Bradley Baker (“Phineas and Ferb”) as Dopey, Scott Menville (“Teen Titans”) as Sneezy, Stephen Stanton (“Doc McStuffins”) as Sleepy, Billy West (“Ren & Stimpy”) as Bashful and Paul Rugg (“Animaniacs”) as Lord Starchbottom.
Meme master Parry Gripp, the creative force behind such viral videos as “Hamster On A Piano (Eating Popcorn)” and “Baby Monkey (Going Backwards On A Pig),” is the songwriter and composer for the series and also performs the theme song.
Television personality, host, fashion designer, singer and actress Kelly Osbourne shot to notoriety after appearing with her famous parents and younger brother in the Emmy Award-winning reality television series “The Osbournes.” The youngest daughter of heavy metal rock legend Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne, television host, author and voice of Mama Hook in Disney Junior’s “Jake and the Never Land Pirates,” Osbourne is a fashion correspondent for E! Network and also serves as co-host for the network’s popular “Fashion Police” series. She competed on season nine of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” and placed third with her partner Louis van Amstel.
