R5’s quest for global domination continues. It started with the first leg of their Louder World Tour, which saw them playing 14 sold-our shows in 13 countries and selling nearly 50,000 tickets internationally. The buzz surrounding the packed-house dates amplified excitement for the international release of debut album LOUDER, which has rocketed straight to No. 1 on the iTunes chart in 10 countries while cracking the top 10 in an additional 25 territories.
The R5 Louder World Tour continues with a string of U.S. dates that kick off May 3 in Valdosta, Georgia (see itinerary below). Fans can also catch the band performing their new single “(I Can’t) Forget About You” on the Radio Disney Music Awards airing April 27 on the Disney Channel. The LA-based quintet will also perform the song on Good Morning America June 10.
Last year R5 rocketed onto the Billboard Top 200, debuting at No. 24 and hitting No. 2 on the iTunes Pop chart, with debut album Louder, produced by Emanuel “Eman” Kiriakou and Andrew Goldstein for Mod Squad Music Inc., and co-written by the band.
R5 has rapidly emerged as an exciting new voice in the world of pop rock. Originally from Littleton, Colo., the L.A.-based band was formed in 2008 and is comprised of siblings Riker Lynch(bass/vocals), Ross Lynch (guitar/vocals), Rocky Lynch (guitar/vocals) and Rydel Lynch (keyboard/vocals); along with friend Ellington “Ratliff” (drums/vocals).
The band self-released their first EP, Ready Set Rock in 2010. They signed with Hollywood Records in April of 2012 and released their second EP, Loud, on February 19, 2013. R5’s major label debut, Louder, was released on September 24, 2013. The quintet starred in a 5-part VEVO series titled “R5 on R5,” which saw cameras follow them on a 2013 sold-out tour that included shows in the U.S., Canadian, Australia, England and France.
Along with duties in R5, Ross Lynch also starred in the hit 2013 Disney Channel Original Movie Teen Beach Movie, and was featured on the soundtrack album which hit the #2 spot on the iTunes overall album chart and #3 on the Billboard 200 chart. The soundtrack spent five consecutive weeks in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart and has sold over 400,000 albums to date. Between R5’s Loud EP and debut album Louder, Teen Beach Movie Soundtrack and the Austin & Ally soundtracks, Ross has sold almost 800,000 albums and 1.7MM tracks to date.
