This event is the outcome of a family’s love for their child, who made it through the first weeks of his life with no complications. At age 2 months, it was discovered that Israel was fighting a life-threatening liver disorder called biliary atresia and had to be rushed into emergency surgery at CHLA. He came through from that surgery but in January 2012 Israel underwent a second surgery at CHLA, this time for his heart defect and came through it without incident. Israel made significant progress, so much so that in June 2012, the family took a much needed vacation. A few days in, Israel’s health took a drastic turn for the worst, and Israel succumbed to his illness while a team of doctors prepared to transport him to a local children’s hospital nearby where the family was vacationing. Israel was nine-months old. “Our hearts were shattered,” say parents Jake and Sarah Rogers. “But with time, our heavy hearts have begun to heal. We now want to keep Israel’s memory alive by combining our passion for classic cars and raising money for an amazing place that cared for our little boy. .”
