Such amazingly, wonderful, awesome – and I can think up lots more great adjectives – news that Emma Watson has been cast as Belle in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of “Beauty and the Beast.”
The 24-year-old actress will be directed by Bill Condon (“Dreamgirls” and “Twighlight: Breaking Dawn”) in the movie which will also be produced by Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman. Production could begin later this year. The script was written by Stephen Chbosky, who was Emma’s director in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.”
It’s interesting to note that before his project had been scrapped, Guillermo del Toro also thought Emma made the perfect Belle, as she was his choice to star in a different remake of “Beauty.”
Emma confirmed the news on her Facebook page with this super nice note:
Yay! It looks like Emma will be singing in the upcoming movie!
So, so wonderful!!! We are thrilled for her. Really loved watching her as Hermione Granger in the “Harry Potter” films and can’t wait to see her as a Disney princess!
Are you really excited about this news too?!!!
