It’s awesome to go (somewhat) back in time. I remember watching the original trilogy when I was a small child and have enjoyed Star Wars since then. Having that same experience, including new ones, into the Rise Against The Empire, I loved it. You cannot argue, if you are a Star Wars fan, that the original trilogy just has that certain something that you just cannot describe. Probably a HUGE nostalgia trip for everyone out there, lets get right to it!
The Play Set takes place in between Episode’s IV through VI with Tatooine, Hoth and Ender being the main exploring planets for you to enjoy. Most of the scenes are very close and true to the classics but they have their own twists thrown in there. Obviously, the humor is still a big part in it and it wouldn’t be Star Wars without that. The Credits system is A LOT more important this time around, as it really should be. The amount of mission types is lovely! Most of them are pretty basic, but then you get to racing and piloting, etc. The wide variety is a very nice move on their part, again, helping the game out a lot when you do that.
As a kid again, Hoth was my favorite planet by far, and still is to this day. There’s something about snow I particularly enjoy. Luke and Leia are your two main options for the Play Set, you could also bring in others, just like any other Play Set but those are the one’s that come with it. They both have their differences but they really seem to mesh well when using them together, more so than usual. I personally like Leia a little more, due to her skill tree and the blaster is more effective to me thus far. The story, being as it mostly follows the movies, flows EXTREMELY well. You should notice most of the scenes easily. If you are as big of a fanatic as I am; you will absolutely love it. As I do not want to spoil anything but, when you get to Hoth, those scenes are brilliant. They are just fantastic, and I cannot say enough great things about the gameplay and graphics. They coincide so well, as we already knew that, but it just feels perfect.
ALMOST forgot to mention, the disc pack was great. You get Princess Leia’s Boushh Disguise (from when she had to rescue Han from his carbonite slumber), Luke’s Rebel Alliance Flight Suit (a very nice add if you ask me), Y-Wing Starfighter and the Slave I (Boba Fett’s ship. Can’t go wrong with that). All of the discs are a great touch indeed. I actually use all of these quite often as I enjoy them so much. The Slave I is impressive as impressive can get. We also got the chance to use the other new characters that will be available, being Chewbacca, Han Solo and Darth Vader. You could probably already guess my favorite from this is Darth because, well he’s Darth Vader is why. Chewy’s really fun to play with and Han is no slouch either. I can say that using these characters, once you find their tokens so you can use them in the Play Set, is a MUST HAVE. It makes the experience that much better.
So far, this Play Set I have enjoyed a little more than the previous one, actually the only other one at the moment, Twilight of The Republic. The only reason I say this is because of the movies. Twilight of The Republic is great, no questions about it, and I would say play that one first, you don’t have to finish it but you should play this one secondly. It makes a nice transition and the flows are slightly different, not entirely, but you will see what I mean once you experience it for yourself. I can say that this is my favorite Play Set in any of the Disney Infinity games so far, and I don’t know if it will be passed either. You really need to try this one out, as you won’t be disappointed!
