We’ve looked at the first two Star Wars Play Sets in detail (“Twilight of the Republic” and “Rise Against the Empire”) as they were released for Disney Infinity 3.0. They were both excellent Play Sets, and a very good value as they provide hours of great family time. It’s been great playing in the old era, but like Star Wars fans everywhere, we’ve been really looking forward to the release of The Force Awakens movie. Along with the movie, we’ve been really excited to see what Disney Interactive has in store for us with the subsequent Play Set that will be released on December 18, 2015.
Today (October 12, 2015), Disney Interactive and Lucasfilm has answered a few of the questions as they revealed new characters for The Force Awakens Play Set including Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren and Poe Dameron. With the press release, there was some basic info about the playable characters, “Finn, a soldier on a path to adventure and danger; and Rey, a true survivor who is resourceful and capable. Both will join Poe Dameron, the trusted pilot of the Resistance who uses his expert flying skills to travel the galaxy, and Kylo Ren, an enforcer for the First Order who terrorizes the galaxy with devious acts.”
Along with characters that would be represented from The Force Awakens movie, we had been wondering if you would have the ability to use other Star Wars characters in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Play Set. That’s been answered for us today, as well, according to the press release, “Fans will also be able to unlock and play with all other Star Wars characters from other Star Wars Play Sets from Star Wars Twilight of the Republic and Star Wars Rise Against The Empire, as well as the Star Wars Rebels characters.” In order to use characters from other Star Wars eras, you will need to collect coins in the game to unlock them. We’re extremely happy to see this is available as it will be great to use the existing Star Wars characters in the new set and will add hours of gameplay to items you might already have purchased. It’s a great move by Disney Interactive. Now, we just have to wait a few more months to play!
