When your brother, best friend and the guitarist in your rock band turns 21, what do you do? You rent a vintage convertible, drive to Vegas and party like rockstars. With a few Go Pros and a drone thrown in, you document the whirlwind adventure and then you make a video out of it.
During a break from their Sometime Last Night world tour, that’s exactly what R5 did. Though a mid-trip, middle of the desert break down extended the five hour road trip to an 11 hour trek, R5 did reach Sin City in time to hit the strip and celebrate Rocky Lynch’s birthday Vegas style.
The video, produced, directed and shot by the band, was cut to “Wild Hearts,” a song Riker Lynch says, “is all about living life to the fullest. Lyrically we wanted it to represent how we live our lives: being spontaneous, being in the moment, ready for anything and going brave into the night and never slowing down.” The video premiered on LIVE NATION TV – watch it HERE.
R5, having just wrapped up their most successful Latin American tour run to date, playing several sold-out shows over eight nights, to well over 22,000 fans including one night at the prestigious Luna Park Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where the band played to 8000 fanatical fans, will have a chance to relive their Vegas adventure when they return stateside to ring in the New Year with three shows at The Venetian Theater on December 29, 31 and January 1 before resuming the international leg of their headline tour that includes two sold out shows in Tokyo, Japan.
As previously announced, the Sometime Last Night winter 2016 U.S. leg kicks off January 26 in Stockton, CA and continues with more than 30 shows before concluding in Sioux City, IA on March 17 at the Orpheum Theatre. Special guests include MAX and Parade of Lights and opener Ryland.

Of the band’s sophomore record, Sometime Last Night, the Boston Globe wrote,“With their new album, [R5] are striking out into writing their own material…their slightly funky brand of hooky spirited pop wouldn’t be out of place on playlists geared toward those who appreciated mid-period Maroon 5.”
